Historic Mill Springs Mill, a beloved landmark on the Cumberland River and Lake Cumberland since the 1800s, was vandalized the weekend of June 7-8, 2025. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District is seeking information about the damage and destruction to the public restrooms at this cherished site.
As Jonathan Friedman, resource manager at Lake Cumberland, stressed, “Repairs and replacement of the damaged facilities are ultimately paid at taxpayer expense.” This vandalism harms not only our shared heritage but also our wallets.
We urge anyone with information about this incident to come forward. Your help is crucial in holding those responsible accountable and protecting our treasured public spaces.
