The Wayne County Rescue Squad was called out to search for a missing side by side rider on Sunday Sept 20, 2026. He was located uninjured by the Wayne County search team just before dark Sunday afternoon nearly 24 hours after becoming separated from his group the night before. Multiple agencies, friends, family, and community members were involved from multiple counties including Wayne, McCreary, and Fentress County Tennessee. Some of the agencies involved included the Wayne County Rescue Squad, Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, the Fentress County Volunteer Rescue Squad, the Fentress County Sheriff’s Office, Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources, Wayne County and Fentress County 911 centers, McCreary County Fire Department volunteers, Tennessee State Park Rangers, and Wayne County EMS who were placed on standby in case they were needed. It was a massive turnout of community and professional volunteers, and we know we have missed listing some and we apologize. We were glad this had a happy outcome.
