Mrs. Mary Ida (Davis) Ferrell of Monticello, Kentucky, passed away on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at her residence, having attained the age of 85 years, 11 months, and 4 days. She was born on Sunday, October 6, 1940, in the Mt. Pisgah Community of Wayne County, Kentucky, the daughter of Teddy Roosevelt & Sarah (Marcum) Davis. She was of the Baptist faith and a member of Missouri Hollow Baptist Church. She was a loving homemaker, enjoyed sewing and watching television, especially Law & Order. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Everett Ferrell; daughter, Joan Faye Harmon; siblings, Roy Estil Davis, Douglas Davis, Betty Shelton, Mary Young, and Elizabeth Davis.
She was survived by her children, Mark (& Lena) Ferrell, Thomas (& Rebecca) Ferrell, Anna Burk, all of Monticello, Kentucky, Lisa (& Jason) Abney of Stanford, Kentucky, Frankie (& Kim) Davis of Monticello, Kentucky; grandchildren, Skyler Harmon, Dustie Ferrell, Cody (& Janna) Ferrell, Hunter, Harmony, Lea Ann, Tasmine (& Chase), Summer, Colter, Luke, Laura, Whitney (& Randall), Eva, Teddy, Benny, Justin, Brittany (& Steven) Rutherford; several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
The funeral service was conducted on Sunday, September 13, 2026, at 1:00 pm EST, in the Memory Chapel of New’s Monticello Funeral Home with Bro. Mike Smedley and Bro. Terry West officiating. Burial was in the Mt. Pisgah Cemetery in Wayne County, Kentucky. Casket Bearers were Jason Abney, Haven Walters, Colter Ferrell, Shawn Burke, Michael Smedley Jr., Cody Ferrell, Steven Rutherford, and Brandon Chase Chaplin.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests all contributions be made to the Mary Ferrell Memorial Fund, c/o New’s Monticello Funeral Home.
