(WKYT) – The Lexington Police Department says a man was arrested and a person was injured following a hit-and-run near Keeneland Saturday.
Police say officers responded around 1:36 p.m. to the 3400 block of Old Clubhouse Lane to reports that a person had been hit by a rideshare vehicle.
An arrest citation says the victim was performing “manual traffic control” at Keeneland, and had told Prandy Paniagua-Pimentel to turn right multiple times since his car was in the right lane. Paniagua-Pimentel allegedly turned left, pinning the victim between two vehicles and running over them with the rear driver-side tire of the vehicle.
Paniagua-Pimentel was driving an Uber and had passengers in the vehicle when the incident occurred, according to the citation. He reportedly apologized to the passengers, dropped them off and fled the scene.
At the scene, police located the victim who suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Officers say the victim was taken to a local hospital.
According to police, officers used license plate readers to locate the vehicle. Paniagua-Pimentel was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an accident and fourth-degree assault.
