Goodwin’s 22 lifts Kentucky alumni past Louisville alumni 63-57 in TBT Game 3

(WKYT) – Archie Goodwin scored 22 points in his series debut and La Familia, the Kentucky alumni team, beat The Ville, made up of Louisville alumni, 63-57 on Wednesday night in the decisive third game of their opening-round series in The Basketball Tournament.

La Familia advanced to the alumni bracket semifinals and will host a matchup Sunday afternoon at Memorial Coliseum. Kentucky will face the winner of Boeheim’s Army (Syracuse alumni) and Hall In (Seton Hall alumni) at 2 p.m. EDT.

Louisville led 30-25 at halftime behind Montrezl Harrell, who had 12 first-half points. Kentucky seized control after the break, opening the third quarter with consecutive 3-pointers and closing the period on a 14-3 run to take a 45-40 lead.

The game moved to the Elam Ending with La Familia ahead 55-51 and a target score of 63. The Ville pulled within range, but Goodwin hit a deep 2-pointer to reach the target and finish the game.

Darryl Morsell added 20 points and five rebounds for La Familia, and Willie Cauley-Stein had 10 points and 11 rebounds.

Harrell finished with 18 points and eight rebounds for The Ville, Trey Lewis scored 16 and Alex Matthews had 10 points and six offensive rebounds.
