Sheriff Bobby Jones reports the arrest of three individuals following an ongoing investigation by the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division into suspected drug trafficking.
On September 27, 2026, Deputy Noah Dishman stopped a blue Chevrolet Equinox on Highway 461. The driver was identified as James Carrender, 37, of Burnside. The back-seat passengers were identified as Joseph Meeks, 38, and Mindy Meeks, 34, both of Somerset.
During the stop, Deputy Dishman detected the odor of marijuana coming from the Equinox. Sgt. Dylan West arrived with K-9 Rocky, who alerted to the presence of narcotics. Deputies searched the vehicle and located multiple bags of suspected marijuana, suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
During the continued search, Mindy Meeks told deputies she had narcotics in her clothing and produced bags containing suspected methamphetamine and fentanyl. All three individuals were arrested.
James Carrender was charged with:
• Trafficking in Marijuana, Less Than 8 Ounces, 1st Offense
• Drug Paraphernalia – Buy/Possess
• Trafficking in a Controlled Substance, 1st Degree, 1st Offense (Methamphetamine, 2 Grams or Greater)
• Possession of a Controlled Substance, 1st Degree (Fentanyl)
• No Operator’s License
• Failure to Have License in Possession
Joseph Meeks and Mindy Meeks were each charged with:
• Trafficking in Marijuana, Less Than 8 Ounces, 1st Offense
• Drug Paraphernalia – Buy/Possess
• Trafficking in a Controlled Substance, 1st Degree, 1st Offense (Methamphetamine, 2 Grams or Greater)
• Possession of a Controlled Substance, 1st Degree (Fentanyl)
All three were lodged in the Pulaski County Detention Center.
Deputy Dishman was assisted by Sgt. Dylan West K-9 Rocky West, Deputy Daniel Drury, Deputy Noah Wesley, Kentucky State Police Trooper Ben Allen, and the FBI. The case remains under investigation by Deputy Dishman.
