(WKYT) – A Corbin woman was sentenced on Monday after pleading guilty to a charge in connection with the moped accident that claimed her daughter’s life.
Danisha Martin was sentenced to ten years in prison for complicity to reckless homicide.
Five years of Martin’s sentence will be probated for five years, but she will still have to serve 24 months in prison; then the rest of her sentence will kick in.
Martin was initially arrested in 2024 after her daughter died in a moped accident on I-75.
Police said Martin’s boyfriend, Darius Wade, was driving under the influence when the incident occurred.

According to police, Martin claimed to have known about Wade’s drinking problem.
In an interview from jail, Martin told WKYT that she felt it was safe for her daughter to ride with Wade, as she said Wade was not drunk when he came home.
Martin was initially facing a complicity to murder charge, but it was later amended to complicity to vehicular homicide.
