Wayne County saw a notable improvement in unemployment during the month of January, according to new data from the Kentucky Center for Statistics.
The county’s unemployment rate dropped to 5.9 percent, down from 6.1 percent in January 2025. In the immediate Lake Cumberland area, every county experienced a year‑over‑year decrease. Russell County recorded the lowest unemployment rates at 4.3 percent, Pulaski County 4.7 percent, and Clinton County 5.1 percent. Clinton County saw the largest improvement from last year with a 2.1‑percent drop.
