Not guilty plea entered for London mayor facing four felony counts

(WKYT) – A not guilty plea was entered on behalf of London Mayor Randall Weddle during an arraignment hearing Wednesday morning.

Weddle is facing four felony charges for violating campaign contribution restriction and expenditure limits, having been indicted by a Laurel County Grand jury two weeks ago.

According to court documents, Weddle is accused of using his personal credit card to make 24 donations to Gov. Andy Beshear’s 2022 campaign and the Kentucky Democratic Party.

Weddle allegedly reported these donations under other people’s names, court documents said.

During Wednesday’s hearing, Weddle’s attorney requested a change of venue, and a formal arraignment was waived.

Weddle is due back in court July 15 at 1 p.m. for a hearing regarding the venue change request.
