Continued Investigations have led to an Indictment

According to Wayne County Sheriff Tim Catron a Nancy, KY. man has now been indicted by a Pulaski County Circuit Court Grand Jury after a continued investigations conducted by the Wayne County Sheriff Office, the Pulaski County Sheriff Office and the Somerset Police Department.
The burglary cases began back in the early morning hours on March 7, 2026, when the Cumberland Green Valero Convenient Store on East KY. Hwy 90 here in Wayne County was burglarized along with 2 other business locations in Pulaski County later that same morning.
During the joint investigations a suspect was identified and was originally charged by the Wayne County Sheriff Office Deputy James Barnett for the Valero burglary and was taken into custody in Pulaski County by the Detective Larry Paterson with the Somerset Police Department.
The Pulaski County cases were presented to the Pulaski County Grand Jury on April 10, 2026, by Pulaski County Sheriff Office Detective Cody Cundiff and the Somerset Police Department Detective Larry Patterson with indictments being returned.
James D. Gurley of Nancy, KY. was arrested on April 13, 2026, by Deputy Barnett while he was being housed in the Wayne County Detention Center on 3 Pulaski County Circuit Court Indictment Warrants of Arrest for 2 counts of burglary-3rd degree, theft by unlawful taking or disposition from a building (greater than $1,000.00 but less than $10,000.00), criminal mischoief-1st degree, criminal mischief-2nd degree, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, and 2 counts of persistent felony offender-2nd degree.
The Wayne County Sheriff Office also arrested the following.
James King of Monticello, KY. was arrested on a Warren County District Court Warrant of Arrest for failure to appear on the underlying charge of public intoxication-(excludes alcohol).
King remained housed in the Wayne County Detention Center.
The Wayne County Sheriff Office also charged and took into custody an 12 year-old female juvenile for assault-4th degree (domestic violence). The juvenile was released from custody after a Wayne County Juvenile Court Hearing to a family member.
