(WKYT) – Paris is known for horses, history and hospitality, and now Hollywood. A made-for-TV movie is coming to town and there’s a chance residents could play a role.
The production company is casting extras in a scene that will be shot in downtown Paris. Movie makers will arrange snow, flipping the April atmosphere back into winter, all for a film called Silver Bells Christmas.
“There will be a 100 percent chance of snow,” said Betty Ann Allen, executive director of the Paris Bourbon County Tourism Commission.
Thursday, the 600 block of downtown Paris will be shut down to make this family-oriented movie. Cast and crew are looking for volunteer extras for Thursday night’s shoot. Production crews will start placing individuals around 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.
“Christmas decorations on the street, extras, the stars of the movie will be here. We are really excited,” Allen said.
Those who want to be an extra can park at First Christian Church at 911 High Street in Paris. Some downtown businesses will have a role.
“We’re definitely asking all the Main Street people to — some people are putting winter clothes in their window. We have a beautician that has put Santa in her window and winter scarves. We are asking the merchants to donate some coupons to get people into their stores,” Allen said.
Film producers needed a venue to shoot a scene and chose Oasis Special Event Productions on Main Street. Owner Chris Haley is getting the place shot ready.
“I know we will make it happen. This place is going to be gorgeous. Paris is going to be absolutely rocking this time tomorrow and tomorrow night, so we would love everybody to come out and be part of the excitement and enjoy it,” Haley said.
“It’s almost like everybody in Bourbon County is excited about this filming,” Allen said.
Extras are asked to bring modern-day winter coats, hats, scarves and gloves. Silver Bells Christmas will be seen on the Great American Family Network.
