Rain Chances are slim as Wayne County is listed as Abnormally Dry

Most of Wayne County along with all the Lake Cumberland Area is currently listed in the Abnormally Dry Category by the U.S. Drought monitor. A small southeast corner of the county along with southern McCreary County are listed as moderate drought.  So far for the year of 1026 we’ve received 9.24 inches of precipitation. That’s compared to 19.63 inches at this time last year and 12.08 inches in 2024. In the first seven days of April we’ve received a fraction under a half inch of rain, with mainly dry conditions forecasted for the next 7 days.
