(WBKO) – Adair County Schools is mourning the loss of a fourth-grade student after an illness.
Superintendent Jason Faulkner released a statement on Sunday announcing that Adair County Elementary School fourth-grader Tate Akin passed away following an illness.
Faulkner writes, “Tate was a valued member of the Adair County school community and will be greatly missed by his classmates, teachers, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. During this difficult time, our thoughts and prayers are with Tate’s family and loved ones.”
Adair County Schools will have additional counselors and support staff in the elementary school over the coming days.
Parents are encouraged to speak with their children and reach out to the school if additional support is needed.
Faulkner concludes with writing, “The Adair County school community asks that everyone keep Tate’s family in their prayers during this profound loss.”
