School Board meets and announces two new Principals

The Wayne County Board of Education met Thursday evening and among several items of business were informed of the hiring of two new principals.

Leslie Rice has been named the new principal at Bell Elementary, and Braxton Shearer has been selected at the new principal at the Middle School.

The board heard updates regarding new state laws set to take effect that will have an impact on the upcoming school system.  One new law prohibits the communication of school staff and students outside the classroom except it come through a traceable software program (which the board approved). There are also waivers that parents can sign if they choose to.

Another law set to begin will limit cell phone usage at school by students, this change will take effect with the upcoming school year as well.
