Local Man Arrested on Drug related Charges

On November 25, 2024, at approximately 4 pm Sheriff Office Deputy Valis Smedley was contacted by Kentucky Probation and Parole Officers Ashley Tucker and Derek Morrow to assist them at a residence located on Hickory Hill Drive in the city limits of Monticello. Officers Tucker and Morrow were conducting a home check on a male living at the residence which was one of their probation clients. The Officers have been receiving complaints about drug activity involving the male. Officer Morrow and Tucker arrested Roscoe Shelton of Monticello, KY. for a parole violation. While conducting a search of Shelton, Officer Morrow and Tucker located a small plastic baggie containing a crystal-like substance suspected of being methamphetamine, a small amount of marijuana, a glass smoking pipe commonly used with illegal narcotic use which also contained pieces of a crystal substance. These illegal items were turned over to Deputy Smedley. Deputy Smedley charged Shelton for possession of a controlled substance-1st degree (methamphetamine), possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. The crystal substance tested positive as being methamphetamine using the Sheriff’s Office Tru-Narc Narcotic Analyzer Instrument with a total weight of 1.20 grams. The crystal substance will also be sent to Kentucky State Police Laboratory for further testing.
Shelton was lodged in the Wayne County Detention Center.
The Wayne County Sheriff Office also arrested Shelley Lair of Monticello, KY. on 3 Wayne County Circuit Court Warrants of Arrest for failure to appear for Revocation Hearings on the underlying charges of kidnapping-minor, wanton endangerment-1st degree, 2 counts of terroristic threatening-3rd degree, disorderly conduct-2nd degree, 2 counts of resisting arrest, possession of a controlled substance-1st degree (methamphetamine), possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and criminal mischief-1st degree.
Lair was lodged in the Wayne County Detention Center.
