According to Wayne County Sheriff Tim Catron a Monticello man has been arrested for drug trafficking.
On October 22, 2024, at approximately 7:25 pm, Wayne County Sheriff Office Deputy Derek Dennis observed a pickup truck not using a turn signal while making a turn from First Street onto College Street with an expired registration plate. After Deputy Dennis activated his emergency equipment the driver of the pickup truck continued at a slow pace and turned onto Third Street then came to a stop. When making contact with the driver he appeared to place something in between the truck seat. The driver was removed from the vehicle and when asked about what he was trying to hide and if he had anything else on him, he stated it was a pipe and he had a little dope on him. While searching the vehicle a glass pipe was found and when searching the driver Deputy Dennis located 3 bags of a crystal substance believed to be methamphetamine in his pants.
Deputy Dennis then charged and arrested Terry L. Lowe of Monticello, KY. for trafficking in a controlled substance-2nd or greater offense (greater than or equal 2 grams of methamphetamine), possession of drug paraphernalia, operating on a suspended or revoked operator’s license, no registration plate and failure to or improper signal.
Lowe was lodged in the Wayne County Detention Center.
While processing paperwork at the Sheriff’s Office the crystal substance tested positive as being methamphetamine using the Tru-Narc Narcotic Analysis Instrument with a total weight of 6.47 grams.
The Wayne County Sheriff Office also arrested Brian Leffew of Monticello, KY. for assault-4th degree (domestic violence).
Leffew was lodged in the Wayne County Detention Center.
