(WKYT) – A Kentucky-based nonprofit focused on growing the state’s organ donation registry is expressing concern after Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. removed the federal certification of an organ procurement organization.
Network for Hope, which serves Kentucky and several other states, was decertified following a review by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
Kennedy said the review found “persistent patient safety failures despite repeated oversights and opportunities to improve.”
Donate Life Kentucky Trust released a statement saying it is concerned people could lose confidence in the mission of organ donation or become hesitant to register as a donor.
The nonprofit said it wants Kentuckians to know that registering as a donor can give hope and save lives. Donate Life Kentucky Trust said it remains focused on educating Kentuckians on organ donation.
