According to Wayne County Sheriff Tim Catron his office has arrested a Somerset, KY. woman for drug trafficking here in Wayne County.
On October 18, 2024, at approximately 14:48 pm Deputy Joe Horne conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on East Kentucky Highway 90 in reference to a drug investigation. While interviewing all occupants of the vehicle, Deputy Derek Dennis deployed his K-9 Deputy Dunya for a free air sniff around the vehicle. Deputy K-9 Dunya alerted on the front passenger side of the vehicle as being positive for illegal narcotics being inside. All occupants were removed from the vehicle for a search of the vehicle and all passengers. After removing everyone Deputy Jerry Coffey observed a pill bottle lying on the ground beside the front passenger side door. The pill bottle contained a crystal-like substance that field tested positive as being methamphetamine. During question of the female front seat passenger, she admitted she had brought the substance to Wayne County to sell.
Deputy Joe Horne then charged and arrested Kimberlee r. Benien of Somerset, KY. for trafficking in a controlled substance-1st degree (greater than or equal to 2 grams of methamphetamine). While processing paperwork at the Wayne County Sheriff Office the crystal substance had a weight of 22.0 grams.
Deputies Horne, Dennis and Coffey were assisted at the scene by Wayne County Court Security Deputy Phyliss Burnette in a search of all female passengers.

Fernando J. Perez of Monticello, KY. was arrested for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, fleeing or evading Police-1st degree, reckless driving and failure to or improper signal.
Glenna G. Cross of Monticello, KY. was arrested for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of a controlled substance, wanton endangerment-1st degree and careless driving.
Renee L. Drewry of Monticello, KY. was arrested for alcohol intoxication in a public place and disorderly conduct-2nd degree.
Perz, Cross and Drewry were lodged in the Wayne County Detention Center.
