Wayne County Hospital Welcomes New Doctor

WCH is excited to welcome Dustin Wells, DO to our Medical Staff! He is a Board Eligible Emergency Medicine Physician, and notes he is looking forward to working at Wayne County Hospital and also with our other Emergency Room Physicians!

Dr. Wells is a true local success story! A native of Wayne County. Dr. Wells has worked as an EMT with Wayne County EMS and looks forward to fostering an even closer working relationship with these fine first responders as he fulfills the role of Emergency Medical Services Medical Director.

Dr. Wells noted “I am so grateful to be home serving the folks I grew up with. It was with EMS that I first broke into the medical field. I discovered my passion for community emergency medicine, both in the pre-hospital setting and in the emergency department while working for Wayne County EMS. It was then that I realized the difference that I could make within my community.”

Dr. Wells graduated from the Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine at University of Pikeville before receiving acceptance into the Emergency Medicine Residency program at the Anderson Campus of the St. Luke’s Medical Network in Easton, PA. He then spent the past 3 years training in Emergency Medicine and Trauma for the networks Level 1 and Level 2 trauma centers as well as time spent managing medical, surgical and pediatric intensive care units. He also spent time training in Pediatric Emergency and Trauma Care at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, as well as providing prehospital response for the entire Lehigh Vally Region of Eastern PA and Western NJ. “I am beyond thrilled and extremely grateful for the opportunity to return to my hometown and assist my colleagues, many of whom wrote my letters of recommendation for medical school. I look forward to pushing our emergency and pre-hospital care to a new level in the future.”

Please stop by and welcome Dr. Wells back home.

Joe Murrell, FACHE, CEO of Wayne County Hospital said “We are incredibly lucky to have someone of Dr. Wells’s caliber and talent who wanted to return to serve his community. His training and in emergency medicine and upcoming status as a Board Certified Emergency Medicine Physician will bring great expertise to an already solid staff of ER Physicians.”
