The Monticello City Council met Monday night for their first meeting of August. The meeting began with a 40 minute executive session with no action taken.
ABC numbers for July $391,712 in sales with $19,202 in fees collected. These are the highest totals for any one month this year.
The Utility Commission reported $616,240 in revenue. The council tabled a resolution to seek funding for the West Monticello Subdivision sewer project which will serve about 60 people. Councilmembers wanted an update to the wording of the resolution. The project will cost approximately 8.7 million.
Approval was given to move forward with funding for the AJ Loyd project with the area development district.
Lt. Josh Asberry was promoted to Assistant Police Chief and Officer David Smith was promoted to Police Sargeant.
Reuben Lee was appointed to the Parks and Recreation oversight committee.
The council approved a comprehensive pay plan for non-elected employees and officers of the city.
Council members also approved an update to the personnel, policies, and procedures handbook.
Approval was given to award the bid for the Murl/Powersburg project to Flowline Contracting for $1.4 million.
The meeting ended after a discussion about project funding for multiple utility commission infrastructure projects, the procedures to get funding and transparency with the funding requests.
