(WKYT) – The Kentucky State Police trooper who was named a “Trooper of the Year” has been suspended after he was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, according to the Lexington Herald-Leader.
Tyler Walters, 25, was arrested on Aug. 7 in Hardin County.

The Herald-Leader reported that a KSP spokesperson previously said Walters was in a personal vehicle and off-duty at the time of the incident.
According to an arrest citation, Walters was arrested after officers found him asleep at the wheel of a parked truck.
Officers found a half-empty beer can in the truck, the arrest citation said, and reported Walters had blood-shot eyes and that his breath smelled of alcohol.
Walters also reportedly posted a 0.083 blood alcohol concentration level, the citation said. The legal limit in Kentucky is 0.08.
