(WKYT) – Officials announced several changes coming to the 2027 Preakness Stakes at an Aug 5. press conference.
According to the Preakness website, The Preakness Stakes will celebrate its 152nd run May 23, 2027 at the Pimlico Race Course. This is eight days after the traditional date of the third Saturday in May.
The decision comes amid the exclusion of the Preakness from the recently announced Thoroughbred Championship Series. That series will include the two other races in the Triple Crown, the Kentucky Derby and the Belmont Stakes.
