According to Wayne County Sheriff Tim Catron an investigation by the Wayne County Sheriff Office into the illegal sales of narcotics has resulted in the arrest of a Monticello man.
The investigation was conducted by Deputy Nick Bertram. During his investigation Deputy Bertram learned that illegal narcotics were being sold from a residence located on North First Street in the city limits of Monticello. Deputy Bertram’s’ information led him to obtain a search warrant for that residence. At approximately 11:05 pm on September 14, 2024, Deputy Bertram along with Deputies Jerry Coffey and Derek Dennis and with the assistance of Monticello Police Officers Casey Lang and Josh Smith executed the search warrant for that residence on North First Street.
During the execution of the search warrant Deputy Bertram detained Christopher Wright. A search of Wright Deputy Bertram found a black silk bag inside his pants containing 11 individual small plastic baggies. Each individual baggie contained a crystal substance believed to be methamphetamine that was already pre-weighed for sales. The continued search of the residence resulted in a set of digital scales, a small Tupperware container with a small amount of a crystal substance suspected to be methamphetamine and several new small plastic baggies.
Deputy Bertram then charged and arrested Chrisotpher T. Wright of Monticello, KY. for trafficking in a controlled substance-1st degree (greater than or equal to 2 grams of methamphetamine).
While processing paperwork at the Wayne County Sheriff Office the crystal substance tested positive as being methamphetamine using the Tru-Narc Narcotic Analysis Equipment with a total weight of 22.16 grams.
Wright was lodged in the Wayne County Detention Center.
The investigation is continuing by the Wayne County Sheriff Office.
