(WKYT) – Eddie Plaster, who died Saturday after a boat collision on Lake Cumberland in Russell County, is being remembered by his pastor and friends for his work helping others.
Plaster’s body was recovered from the lake Tuesday afternoon. He died after officials say another boat collided with the boat he and another person were fishing on. After several days of searching, he was found in 117 feet of water. An autopsy will determine his cause of death.
‘Fisher of men’
Plaster was a fisherman. His pastor said he was literally a “fisher of men,” reaching people struggling with addiction or with life in general.
Pat Finley of Grace Baptist Church in Clark County said Plaster understood the people he helped.
“Boy, he had a heart for those people. Because he came from that. He knew what they thought. He knew what they were dealing with,” Finley said. “He came from that world, and God had delivered him from all that.”
Business, jail ministry and helping others
When he was not on the water, people said Plaster ran his business. They also said he was devoted to a jail ministry. People said he helped underprivileged children and people with addictions.
Friend Brad Myers said Plaster also helped those who worked for him at his concrete business.
“Even his employees, who had issues, he would do everything he could to help his employees while they worked,” Myers said.
“He’s just a great guy. That is what makes it so hard. Still is. A good person. Hate to lose someone like that,”
People said Plaster could connect with people.
Care Cremation Services and Funeral Home in Lexington is handling the funeral arrangements.
