(WKYT) – Two more people were arrested as part of an investigation into a “major theft and property damage case” involving the Country Farm and Home storage building, according to the Monticello Police Department.
Police said the investigation began when employees entered the property and found “extensive damage” to the building, and several items were missing.
People at a recycling yard had previously reported that people had been trying to sell “suspicious amounts” of copper and scrap metal, police said.
According to officials, the items matched property stolen from the Country Farm and Home storage building.
“We’re not 100% sure yet of what they have gotten,” said David Tapley, with Country Farm and Home. “They had not stolen big equipment yet, but they stole a lot of product. Our count right now, $20,000 or more.”
