Berea man honored for bravery in deadly bank shooting

(WKYT) – A Berea man was honored for his bravery during the deadly Berea bank shooting six months ago.

The Madison County sheriff said that Craig Williams walked into the U.S. Bank on Chestnut Street as alleged shooter Brailen Weaver was leaving.

“I’d like to recognize Craig for his heroism and bravery on the US Bank shooting as he was entering the building, the shooter was exiting the building and [they] confronted each other and his heroism that day was outstanding. I just want to thank him and thank that he’s still alive today from what took place that day,” the sheriff said.” said Sheriff Mike Coyle.

Weaver is facing federal charges of causing death with a firearm in the course of a crime of violence and attempted bank robbery in connection to the deaths of 42-year-old Brian Switzer and 35-year-old Breanna Edwards. If convicted, he faces the death penalty.
