(WKYT) – U.S. Representative James Comer told reporters that he expects Senator Mitch McConnell will be back on Capitol Hill when the Senate reconvenes on Monday, September 14.
McConnell has not been seen in public since he was hospitalized on June 14.
His office says he has since undergone intense physical therapy and is now home.
Comer told reporters on Thursday that he has not spoken to McConnell but bases his prediction of McConnell’s return on conversations with members of the senator’s staff.
“I’ve talked to his staff, many of whom are from my district originally, and they have all said it’s their goal for Senator McConnell to be here when the Senate comes in next week,” Comer said.
McConnell’s Office told WKYT that they would keep us updated on McConnell’s status.
