(WKYT) – Gov. Andy Beshear said on Wednesday he is “thankful” for the latest round of FEMA assistance, over $9 million total, for Kentucky residents.
The assistance is for counties affected by the widespread flooding that took place from June 17-30 and killed six Kentuckians.
“This flooding event was devastating for our state, and Team Kentucky worked quickly to conduct damage assessments and request federal aid so that Kentuckians and communities affected would have the support needed to recover and rebuild,” Beshear said. “I am thankful that we have received the much-needed news that Public Assistance will be available for at least 20 counties.”
President Donald Trump announced the approval of the funds in a Truth social media post on Tuesday.
Eligible counties are: Garrard, Jessamine, Madison, Mercer, Owsley, Rockcastle and Spencer.
