(WKYT) – The city of Liberty is reminding residents to stay out of its parched lake.
Water levels at Lake Liberty remain extremely low, and city officials said to keep off the dry lake bed, as it may be unstable and unsafe for vehicles.
The lake is also unsuitable for boating, and residents are advised not to launch or operate watercraft on it.
Water levels at the lake dropped enough due to drought and increased customer use that the city mandated water conservation measures in June.
A project to pipe in water from the Green River was announced later that month and finished in July.
Water levels have increased at Lake Liberty, but the city is still asking residents to conserve water whenever possible.
