According to Wayne County Sheriff Tim Catron a complaint of an assault taking place in a moving vehicle has resulted in a Pulaski County man being arrested after a victims family member tracked the movement of the vehicle using modern technology.
During the assault the victim was able to use her cell phone and dialed her mother. The mother could hear the conflict as it was continuing while the vehicle was still moving. The mother then called the Wayne County 911 Dispatch Center reporting the assault and while using her cell phone Life 360 App she was able to track the vehicle and relay its location. After being dispatched to the call, Deputies Brad Tucker and Jerry Coffey responded to the Old Fall Creek Road area where they found the vehicle which was blocked in by the mother’s vehicle. While speaking to the victim the Deputies learned that the male had picked her up from work and immediately started assaulting her while driving at a high rate of speed and at one point left the roadway driving into a field. The male also refused to allow the victim to exit the vehicle after she made several attempts to do so.
Deputy Tucker charged and arrested Charles C. Cherry of Science Hill, KY. for operating a motor vehicle on a suspended or revoked operator’s license, assault-4th degree (domestic violence), unlawful imprisonment-1st degree, wanton endangerment-2nd degree, and criminal mischief-1st degree. Deputy Tucker also arrested Cherry on a Pulaski County District Court Warrant of Arrest for failure to pay as previously ordered on the underlying charge of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol.
