Sheriff Bobby Jones reports the indictment of a Pulaski man for charges related to the physical abuse of an adult and a minor child.Davin Melton, 24, of Somerset was charged with Criminal Abuse in the First Degree, Child Under the Age of Twelve, Kidnapping – Adult, Stalking in the Second Degree, and Wanton Endangerment in the First Degree.
The charges were the result of an investigation begun by the Sheriff’s Office’s Criminal Investigation Division regarding a complaint that was received on October 1, 2025 about the abuse of a child. The investigation was assigned to Crimes Against Children Detective Jay Picard. During the investigation, Det. Picard gathered additional evidence that resulted in multiple charges that were listed in the indictment.
Based on his investigation, Det. Picard presented the information and evidence to the Pulaski Grand Jury on April 8 of this year. On April 16, Melton was arrested without incident and lodged at the Pulaski County Detention Center on a $200,000 bond. Melton posted bond on the same day of his arrest.
Det. Picard was assisted in the investigation by Detective Branson Patterson with the Criminal Investigation Division, Deputy Marcus Harrison, Deputy Noah Wesley, and the Department for Community Based Services.
