(WKYT) – Drought conditions have city officials in one Casey County community asking customers to cut back on water usage.
A social media release posted by the city of Liberty on Thursday reads, “Water levels in Lake Liberty are now dangerously low, and the Kentucky Division of Water has requested that both city and county residents reduce usage as much as possible. Our water supply is under significant strain, and every gallon saved helps ensure that essential services remain available for everyone.”
As a result, the city advises its residents and East Casey County Water District customers to limit non-essential water use, such as: watering lawns and gardens, washing vehicles at home, filling pools or hot tubs, or running water unnecessarily.
Other water conservation tips include fixing leaks, taking shorter showers, and only running full loads of laundry/dishes.
The city also expressed its gratitude for those willing to take the proper steps.
“We appreciate your cooperation and commitment to helping our community through this challenging time. Together, we can protect our water resources and ensure availability for all,” the statement says.
