Two Wayne Countians Arrested on drug charges in Pulaski County

Pulaski County Sheriff Bobby Jones reports three individuals are in custody following a drug investigation.

The incident started in early April, when the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division received information about a drug syndicate trafficking in large amounts of methamphetamine, in Pulaski County. The investigation uncovered individuals in Pulaski County were being supplied in methamphetamine by a source of supply in Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky. Through the course of the investigation, Detectives began conducting surveillance on a couple of the individuals in the syndicate.

On Tuesday night, Detectives received information the suspects were leaving Pulaski County to purchase narcotics. Detectives observed the individuals go to an area in Northern Kentucky, stay for a short time and begin driving South. Detectives and Deputies with the Sheriff’s Office began watching for the vehicle on Highway 461 & East Highway 80.

At approximately 9:30 P.M., Deputy Dylan West located a vehicle, operating on East Highway 80, with only one active headlight. Deputy West conducted a stop of the vehicle, at Eastway, joined shortly by Deputy Noah Wesley, Deputy Grant Bryant, and Detective Tan Hudson.

Deputy West deployed his K-9, Rocky, to conduct a free-air sniff of the vehicle. After conducting the sniff of the vehicle, Deputy West noticed a change in behavior in Rocky. Deputy Wesley walked up to the vehicle and observed the back seat passenger, Robert Thall, age 55, of Cincinnati, attempting to hide items under the front passenger seat.

All occupants of the vehicle were removed and a search of the vehicle was conducted. Upon searching the vehicle, Deputies located approximately 995.8 grams of methamphetamine (1 Kilo), and $8,097.00 in cash. Thall, and the other two occupants of the vehicle, Alisa Sanders, age 43, of Monticello and Tony Sanders, age 46, of Monticello, were placed into custody.

While conducting interviews, Deputies went to remove Thall from the vehicle. While removing Thall from the vehicle, Deputy Wesley noticed a white powdery substance covering Thall’s clothing. Thall attempted to throw a baggie, which Deputies recovered. In the back seat of Deputy Wesley’s car, a large amount of suspected Fentanyl was discovered covering the seat and the floor board.

Detective Lieutenant Daryl Kegley contacted Pulaski 911 dispatch to have the Pulaski County Special Response Team and Somerset/Pulaski EMS dispatched to the scene to assist.

Once SRT arrived on scene, they decontaminated Robert Thall. Next, they collected as much of the substance as could be recovered in the vehicle, and then decontaminated the patrol car.
