Mrs. Betty Jean (Edwards) Rains of Albany, Kentucky passed away on Friday, April 10, 2026, at her residence in Clinton County, Kentucky, having attained the age of 79 years, 8 months and 21 days. She was born on Saturday, July 20, 1946, in Clinton County, Kentucky, the daughter of Carl & Myrtle (Fitzgerald) Edwards. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John T. Rains, siblings, Dean Edwards, and Glomia Duvall.
She is survived by children, Stevie J. Rains, Debbie J. Grider; sister, Loretta Edwards; grandchildren, Linsey Duvall (& Jason Casada), John Carl Rains, Abigail Tallent, Levi Tallent (& Nina Esperanza), Olivia Duvall, Logan Dalton, John Tallent, Mila Hutchenson, Hunter Rains, and Autumn Rains.
The funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at 12:00 noon CST in the Memory Chapel of Campbell-New Funeral Home with Bro. Jack Duvall, Bro. Clay Chaplin officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, beginning at 6:00 PM CST, and again on Wednesday morning beginning at 6:00 am until the funeral hour. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Clinton County Kentucky.
