(WFIE/WKYT) – A woman in Kentucky is facing numerous charges after she almost hit officers while fleeing police and leading them on a pursuit April 15.
According to the Central City Police, a bystander called for a welfare check around 9:30 p.m. on a female driver of a car blocking the roadway at S. 2nd.
They say when an officer arrived to check on the driver, she sped off and almost hit the officer and a bystander.
Police say the driver, identified as Elonte Allen, later stopped in the median of S. 2nd before taking off again through a nearby fast food parking lot.
Authorities say she almost hit another patrol vehicle before continuing out to the Western Kentucky Parkway eastbound at the 58 mile marker.
Stop sticks were thrown out by the Kentucky State Police, and the car stopped at the 65 mile marker.
Allen refused to get out of the vehicle but eventually complied with officers.
She is facing a total of 18 charges:
- Wanton Endangerment- 1st Degree
- Wanton Endangerment- 1st Degree-police Officer (2 Counts)
- Fleeing Or Evading Police, 1st Degree (Motor Vehicle)
- Operating a Motor Vehicle under the influence of Alcohol
- Criminal Mischief, 1st Degree
- Disregarding Stop Sign
- Failure To Or Improper Signal
- Improper Parking Firelane/block Traveled Portion Of Hwy
- Improper Start From Parked Position
- Failure To Illuminate Head Lamps
- No Tail Lamps
- Resisting Arrest
- Reckless Driving
