Wayne County Varsity Cardinals fell 7 – 6 to Chamindade Julienne Catholic on Wednesday despite out-hitting them 12 to nine. Palmer Smith led the Cards with three hits.
Chaminade Julienne Catholic got on the board in the top of the fourth inning after the Cardinals committed an error, Kolton doubled to center field, and Clarke singled to center field, each scoring one run.
The Cards jumped into the lead in the bottom of the sixth when Gage Gregory doubled, scoring two runs, and Smith singled, scoring one run.
Chaminade Julienne Catholic jumped in the lead in the top of the seventh when Kolton singled, scoring two runs, and a wild pitch scored one run.
Clone earned the win for Chaminade Julienne Catholic. The hurler gave up zero hits and zero runs over one-third of the inning, striking out none and walking none. Cooper Stockton took the loss for the Cards. The right-handed pitcher went one inning, surrendering two runs ( zero earned ) on two hits, striking out one and walking one. Riley Jones started on the mound for the Cards. The right-handed pitcher allowed seven hits and five runs ( three earned) over six innings, striking out two and walking two. Lunne stepped on the hill first for Chaminade Julienne Catholic. The starter allowed eight hits and two runs over four and two-thirds innings, striking out two and walking none.
The Cardinals amassed 12 hits in the game. Gregory and Dawson Pyles each drove in two runs. Landon Denney, Stockton, and Jones each collected multiple hits for the Cards.
Chaminade Julienne Catholic accumulated nine hits in the game. Kolton drove the middle of the lineup, leading Chaminade Julienne Catholic with two runs batted in. Kolton went 3 for 4 on the day. Sullivan and Scott each collected multiple hits for Chaminade. Sullivan stole three basses. Chaminade Julienne Catholic ran wild on the base paths, accumulating five stolen bases for the game. Cahminade Julienne Catholic were sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Whitt made the most plays with eight.
