(WAVE/WKYT) – Governor Andy Beshear has announced tentative funeral plans for the Hardin County Soldier killed during the Iran war.
Sergeant Benjamin Pennington, 26, of Glendale, Kentucky, died on March 8 from injuries he received during an enemy attack on March 1 at Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia, according to the US Department of War. Pennington was assigned to the First Space Battalion, First Space Brigade at Fort Carson, Colorado.
A funeral service for Pennington, who was posthumously promoted to staff sergeant, is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, March 21, at Central Hardin High School in Cecilia, Kentucky. He will be interred at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery in Radcliff.
Pennington was from Glendale and Graduated from Hardin County Schools in 20-17.
The time the funeral will take place has not yet been released.
