(WKYT) – The Laurel County Sheriff’s office says one man is facing terroristic threatening charges, after they say he made threats at a church.
An arrest citation for 56-year-old James Bell says he was arrested Sunday at Campground Pentecostal Church.
The sheriff’s office received a call from a woman at the church who said Bell walked into the church and said “I am here to kill” and “I will kill the children”. Several other churchgoers reported hearing the same comments.
The sheriff’s office says churchgoers evacuated children out of the main sanctuary.
When deputies arrived on scene, they say a group was surrounding Bell in the parking lot. The church’s pastor told deputies he did not hear Bell make threats. Instead he heard him ask for help, stating he was possessed by a demon. He says the group was praying over Bell when deputies arrived.
Deputies say Bell had an odor of alcohol and was slurring his words.
Bell is charged with terroristic threatening second degree, disorderly conduct second degree and public intoxication.
