(WKYT) – A London woman is hospitalized on a ventilator after she was pulled from a burning apartment early Monday morning and CPR was performed on the scene.
Michelle Moore was transported to a Lexington hospital after the fire broke out around 3 a.m. Monday at Springs Street Square apartment complex in London. Friends said Moore had just worked a double shift and had taken medication, which they believe is why she did not wake up.
‘They had to bring her back’
Derrick Moore, Michelle Moore’s ex-husband, said a firefighter pulled her from an upstairs unit and that she barely had a pulse when she was removed from the building.
“They said they had to bring her back. Once they got her out, she barely had a pulse,” Derrick Moore said.
Derrick Moore said CPR was performed on Michelle Moore after firefighters removed her from the apartment. He said a man at the complex was able to help others get to safety, but no one answered Michelle Moore’s door.
Recovery expected, but ‘a long road’
Derrick Moore said doctors have removed soot from Michelle Moore’s lungs and expect her to make a full recovery, though the process will require significant time and money.
“She should make a full recovery. Going to be a long road. They did get a lot of the soot and stuff out of her lungs,” he said.
Moore said Michelle also lost all of her belongings and several pets in the fire.
