(WKYT) – The body of 28-year-old Jacob Ring was found Saturday afternoon near a pond off Deany Vanoy Road in the rural Creston community outside Liberty, ending a months-long missing person’s case. Questions surrounding his death remain unanswered as the investigation continues.
Ring had been reported missing Jan. 22. He was last seen approximately one mile from where his body was recovered.
Autopsy underway in Frankfort
The Casey County Coroner’s Office said Ring’s body was sent to the state medical examiner’s office in Frankfort for a complete autopsy. Results are expected in four to six weeks.
“Everything is still pending investigation,” Deputy Coroner Abigail Pittman said. “Mr. Ring was sent to Frankfort to the medical examiner’s office for a complete autopsy where it is pending at this time.”
Community mourns
A friend of Ring’s said he was a union carpenter who loved his children and cared about his peers. Ring was from Maysville.
“Liberty, Kentucky – Casey County is a very close-knit community,” Pittman said. “If you’ve been here, you’re known. Everybody knows everybody. Everyone is willing to lend a helping hand.”
Casey County Coroner Mike Brown said the office is committed to providing answers to Ring’s family.
“I’m glad he’s been found, but we are going to give the family the results they deserve,” Brown said.
