The Monticello City Council met for their regular monthly session at City Hall Monday night.
The local ABC report showed $223,983 in sales with $19,847 collected in taxes for the month of March.
The local Utility Commission reported revenue totaling $705,775 with expenses of $655,834. The Murl-Powersburg project is progressing, and the engineers feel weather will allow them to make good progress until their construction materials run out, there will be a period of downtime as they wait for new supplies to arrive from Canada.
The Council discussed the ground breaking held earlier in the day at the Industrial Development site for the Medical Hemp facility. The next 46 acres of the land is expected to land three new manufacturing facilities on the property. It’s hoped that the IDA will be able to begin a revolving loan program where the board will offer small business loan opportunities.
The 2nd reading of an ordinance to set new City Business License fees passed by unanimous vote, also an ordinance to the code enforcement ordinance passed with all members voting in favor.
