WEEKEND ARRESTS BY MPD
At approximately 11:50 a.m. Saturday (Apr 5), Major Josh Asberry and Officer Mike Neal responded to a fight complaint on College Street. Two men were arrested on active warrants.
Travis R. Ferrell, 25, of Monticello, was taken into custody on Wayne District Court warrants for failure to appear and non-payment of fines.
Eric West, 29, of Monticello, was taken into custody on a Wayne District Court warrant for Assault 4th Degree from a previous incident.
While West was being processed, Major Asberry observed a specific tattoo on West’s right forearm and two bracelets that appeared to match a tattoo and bracelets being worn by a male operating a stolen truck which was recorded earlier this week on video at a local fast-food restaurant. Major Asberry had been investigating the theft from Iron Mule since the morning of March 31st.
Following interviews with new witnesses, Major Asberry charged West on Sunday morning with Theft by Unlawful Taking (auto), Criminal Mischief 1st Degree, Operating on a Suspended License and Criminal Trespass 3rd Degree.

James Kendrick, 60, of Monticello, was arrested on South Main Street for Alcohol Intoxication in a Public Place by Major Asberry.
Ferrell, West and Kendrick were lodged in the Wayne County Detention Center.
