Sheriff Tim Catron and staff are very thankful our Lord spared his life on this day and being with him during his recovery.
This picture was taken when it all began. I saluted the officers that paid the ultimate sacrifice. The same day I took an oath as a certified peace officer. Last year I stood in front of that memorial and wept. At the time it was under construction to make room for more names. I realized how close I came to being one of those names.
Today marks one year since I told the local dispatch center I was shot. A lot happened that day. My law enforcement brothers responded to the scene as they always do, selfless and ready. The community I love rallied behind me, and my family rode the roller coaster of emotion. Through it all I came out better. Grace from God is the reason I am here. The one and only reason. I am fortunate and beyond blessed, I know that. I see so much hurt in my community. Hurt of which I cannot imagine. I am okay; I am still here. Anyone close to me knows I don’t talk about that day much. I just wanted to acknowledge the anniversary to express my appreciation to everyone there for me and Hannah. I will never forget that moment. I will never forget Tim Catron beside me. Andrea and Teresa are on the other end of the radio. My brother Travis driving me out. All of my law enforcement brothers created a line for me. EMS, WC Firefighters, the three angels in the helicopter, Preacher Joe, Cain, ….EVERYONE involved! Most of all, my wife Hannah. Over the past year, I have been helped and embraced by so many people, Thank You! Good Lord willing I am here to stay. I have a lot left in the tank and a whole lot to give back. Wayne County Proud!
