According to Wayne County Sheriff Tim Catron in two separate incidents on Valentines Day of domestic violence has resulted in the arrest of a male and a female on assault and other charges.
On February 14, 2025, at approximately 10:15 am, the first incident was reported to the Sheriff Office when a father came into the office with injuries to his head and other body areas. The father stated it was his son who caused his injuries by attacking him with a metal stove handle. Wayne County Medical Services were dispatched to the Sheriff Office and then transported the father to the Wayne County Hospital Emergency Room for treatment.
Deputies Joe Horne, Jery Coffey with Sheriff Catron at approximately 10:59 am, made contact with the son at a residence located on Kentucky Highway 776 where the incident occurred. The son was taken into custody without any resistance.
Deputy Joe Horne charged and arrested Trenton G. Tucker of Monticello, KY. for assault-2nd degree-domestic violence. Tucker was lodged in the Wayne County Detention Center.
The second domestic violence incident occurred at a residence located at 29 Valley View Trailer Park. Deputies Jerry Meadows and Jerry Coffey responded to the residence at 4:53 pm after being dispatched there for a domestic violence complaint by the Wayne County 911 Dispatch Center. Upon their arrival they were met by a female who was reported as the suspect of the domestic violence complaint. Witnesses at the residence stated to the Deputies that this female had struck her son in his face and then taken a walker away from her elderly father placing him in danger. While placing the female under arrest she refused to follow the Deputies verbal commands and then was physically taken under control.
Deputy Meadows charged and arrested Shelley R. Atkinson of Monticello, Ky. for assault-4th degree-domestic violence, resisting arrest and wanton endangerment-1st degree.
Atkinson was lodged in the Wayne County Detention Center.
