Public Meeting Held on Hwy 92 Proposal

Members of the Kentucky Department of Transportation came to the Aspire Center yesterday in Monticello to meet with citizens regarding a possible re-routing of Highway 92 into downtown.  A total of 212 individuals came out for the open house style meeting and saw plans the department is considering.

One plan would call for the relocating of the doughboy from the public square to accommodate for parking for downtown businesses. Another plan would keep the doughboy it’s in place, but all parking would be taken as room for the roundabout.

If the doughboy were to be relocated, they’re three options for where to place it 1) the grassy knoll between Main Street Books and the Courthouse, 2) the front of the local Justice Center, or 3) at the corner of the square.

The department will take into consideration public comments and determine which option they want to go with or they could choose not to make any changes
