(WKYT) – The Harrison County Water Association has been awarded more than $2.4 million from the U.S. Department of Agriculture for a new water project, with the bid process set to start Friday.
The plan calls for about three miles of new water main along Kentucky 353, bringing service to a part of the county that currently has none and connecting two dead-end lines.
The project will also replace or repair another three miles of aging water line elsewhere in the county.
“Once they have gone through all the hoops and all the red tape and all the paperwork we know it is a lot it comes with good reason but we know it can be a lot of a work we know it is worth something celebrating an over 2 million dollar investment it is a big deal for a community this size,” said Kentucky’s USDA Director Travis Burton.
The funding has been five years in the making.
