Two opioid‑related funding requests were before the court: • CASA of Southern Kentucky, requesting $15,000 to recruit and train eight new volunteers to advocate for children affected by parental substance use. • The Wayne County Detention Center, requesting $10,000 for books used in its MRT‑based rehabilitation programs. Both were approved using money from the opioid abatement funds.
Department heads submitted their monthly reports, including Solid Waste’s update showing 220 bags of trash collected in July and $4,519.15 in recycling revenue; the ABC Administrator’s July revenue of $2,990.04; EMS reporting 346 calls in July and personnel changes needed to fill full‑time vacancies; and Animal Control’s July totals, including 98 animals processed, 32 adoptions.
State road projects discussed included resurfacing of a portion of Hwy. 90 to the Clinton County line and a portion of Hwy. 1009.
Magistrates provided comments and submitted road work lists, and the meeting concluded after routine business items and departmental reviews.
