(WKYT) – Crews from the Kentucky Division of Forestry is beginning its second week assisting Washington crews with wildfire suppression.

Several portions continue to burn, but the 25-person Kentucky crew was assigned the task of holding the line in preparation of a burnout operation on Friday. The crew was successful in stopping a part of the fire in the Modrite area as part of the operation.

Crews are now monitoring and mopping up the section, according to the Kentucky Division of Forestry.
