(WKYT) – Seven people were rescued in Russell County on Thursday after they were stranded on an island due to rising water.
The Russell County Search and Rescue Team was dispatched to the island near Rock House Bottom when the seven lost shore access.

Crews safely transported them back to land, and no injuries were reported.
The search and rescue team reminds the public that rising water happens fast and that a fun day can turn serious in a matter of minutes. To stay safe, they advise keeping an eye on conditions, wearing a life jacket, and always letting someone know your plans.
