The Wayne County Fiscal Court met Tuesday and took care of July business.
The Wayne County drug court program which is administered by the Circuit Court will have funding for the next two years as magistrates gave approval to allocate $50,000 of the county’s opioid abatement funds to initiative.
Local roads will benefit from just over $900,000 from the state for road projects throughout the county. The court agreed to accept the allocation with a 12% match locally.
The court Approved a proposal for the 2026 audit to be conducted by CPA Roy Hunter at a cost just over $15,000 pending approval from the state auditor’s office.
The court proceeded with new fiber internet projects awarding two contracts to CTS which was the lone bidder in both. Once complete fiber would be made available to the Twyford’s Point and Coopersville communities.
County Judge Executive, Scott Gehring informed magistrates that representative from FEMA have been to Wayne County to assess damage from recent flooding.
